Nyzhankivsky, Andrii

Nyzhankivsky, Andrii [Нижанківський, Андрій; Nyžankivs'kyj, Andrij] aka Niżankowski, Andrzej, b 1592 in Galicia, d 3 April 1655 in Cracow. Organist. A Dominican, he studied the organ in Italy with G. Frescobaldi and then emerged as a virtuoso in his own right. He served as an organist at Santa Maria sopra Minerva Church in Rome and the Dominican church in Cracow, and he probably composed a number of works which have not survived.
