Orlov, Oleksander

Orlov, Oleksander [Орлов, Олександер], b 1899 in Kholm, d 1948 in Prague. Geographer and geologist; member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. He was a specialist in geology and mineralogy. He taught in Prague at the Ukrainian Free University (1921–45), at Charles University (1926–45), and the Ukrainian Higher Pedagogical Institute in Prague (1926–33). His main scholarly interest was the petrography of Czechoslovakia. He was also a contributor to the Ukraïns'ka zahal'na entsyklopediia (The Ukrainian General Encyclopedia, 1935 see Encyclopedias of Ukraine).
