Osmak, Vasyl
Osmak, Vasyl [Осьмак, Василь; Os'mak, Vasyl'], b 1870 in Hoholiv, Oster county, Chernihiv gubernia, d 7 January 1942 in Kyiv. Architect. A graduate of the Saint Petersburg Institute of Civil Engineering (1895), from 1899 he taught at the Kyiv Polytechnical Institute. He codesigned important projects in Kyiv, such as Sadovsky's Theater (1905, now the Kyiv Operetta Theater), the buildings of the university library (1914–15), the humanities building at Kyiv University (1932), the Dynamo Stadium (1934–5), and the landscaping of the Dnipro River bank (1935–8).
