Pashchenko, Dmytro

Pashchenko, Dmytro [Пащенко, Дмитро; Paščenko], b 1759, d 1809. Administrator and historian. He worked as a chancellor in Hadiach regiment (from 1774) and for the Little Russian Collegium (from 1777) and became a member of the commission conducting an imperial survey and census of the Hetman state. He wrote an extensive book on the Chernihiv viceregency, Opisanie Chernigovskogo namestnichestva (A Description of the Chernihiv Viceregency, 1779–81; parts of it were published by Oleksander Lazarevsky in 1868). Pashchenko later served as a regimental scribe (1783) and as a court chamberlain in Horodnia county, Chernihiv gubernia (from 1802).
