Petrov, Artem

Petrov, Artem [Петров, Артем], b 31 October 1779 in Khomutets, Hadiach county, Poltava region, d 15 October 1849 in Moscow. Veterinarian. One of the founders of veterinary education in the Russian Empire, he graduated from the Kyivan Mohyla Academy (1799) and the Saint Petersburg Medico-Surgical Academy (1807) and taught at the veterinary school of the Moscow Medico-Surgical Academy (1809–42). His work was mostly with horses.
