Rekanovsky, Petro

Rekanovsky, Petro [Рекановський, Петро; Rekanovs'kyj], b ca 1800 in Galicia, d after 1865 in Kyiv. Theater director and actor. He began his career in Kyiv in A. Lenkavsky’s troupe and then led his own Ukrainian-Russian-Polish troupe in Kyiv (1834–5, 1836–7, 1840–2, 1843), Chernihiv (1837), and Mykolaiv (1837–40). He played Vybornyi in Ivan Kotliarevsky’s Natalka Poltavka (Natalka from Poltava).
