Savchenko, Mykola

Savchenko, Mykola [Савченко, Микола; Savčenko], b 19 December 1903 in Korsun, Kaniv county, Kyiv gubernia, d 16 March 1985 in Luhansk. Plant selection scientist. A graduate of the Maslivka Institute of Selection and Seed Cultivation (1927), he worked at the Mliiv Orcharding Research Station (1927–30) and the Luhansk Agricultural Institute (1935–75, as department head; 1975–80, as professor and consultant). His research dealt mainly with the selection of fruit-bearing plants.
