Scraba, Wasyl

Scraba, Wasyl or William [Шкраба, Василь; Škraba, Vasyl'], b 1 March 1907 in Dominion City, Manitoba, d 18 April 1971 in Toronto. Businessman, politician, and community leader. He served 11 years as a trustee on the Winnipeg Board of Education, and then as alderman (1934–40) and the Liberal member of the legislative assembly for Winnipeg North (1945–9). Besides publishing the irregular Ukrainian Canadian Review (Winnipeg, 1936–42) he was active in the Prosvita Institute, the Ukrainian People's Home, the Ukrainian Professional and Business Club, and the Ukrainian Canadian Legion No. 141.
