Seal, monk

Seal, monk (Monachus monachus; Ukrainian: tiulen bilocherevyi, monakh). The only species of seal in Ukraine. An inhabitant of the waters of the Black Sea, this aquatic mammal belongs to the family Phocidae of true earless seals. It has been listed as an endangered species in Ukraine.
