Tovstolis, Dmytro

Tovstolis, Dmytro [Товстоліс, Дмитро], b 20 September 1877 in Chernihiv, d 28 July 1939 in Kyiv. Forester. He graduated from the Saint Petersburg Forestry Institute (1902) and from 1912 taught at the Higher Agricultural Courses for Women in Saint Petersburg. He was appointed to the positions of professor at the Belarusian Agricultural Institute in Minsk (1923–5) and chairman of the Department of Forest Appraisal at Kyiv Agricultural Institute and Kyiv Institute of Forest Management (from 1925). Among his publications are a number of monographs, such as Opyt izucheniia sistem lesnogo khoziaistva (An Attempted Study of the Systems of Forest Management, 1929).
