Troian, Kornylo

Troian, Kornylo [Троян, Корнило; Trojan], b 26 August 1885 in Sydoriv, Husiatyn county, Galicia, d 5 March 1959 in New York. Lawyer and civic and political leader. A veteran of the Austrian army in the First World War, he completed his law studies in 1921 and opened his own law office in Khodoriv (Bibrka county) in 1924. There he also set up a branch of the Prosvita society, a county co-operative union, and a circle of the Ridna Shkola society. He was also on the executive of the Ukrainian Party of National Work. As a candidate of the Ukrainian National Democratic Alliance and a member of its presidium (1925–6) he won election to the Polish Senate in 1928 and to the Polish Sejm in 1935. After the Second World War he worked as a refugee in the law department of the Central Representation of the Ukrainian Emigration in Germany. He moved to the United States of America in 1952.
