Ukrainian Democratic Alliance

Ukrainian Democratic Alliance (Ukrainskyi demokratychnyi rukh). A political organization founded in New York in 1976 by the Ukrainian National Democratic Alliance, the Ukrainian Revolutionary Democratic party, and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (Abroad). Its aims were to promote the development of the world Ukrainian community and to help the Ukrainian nation in its struggle for cultural and political rights. The alliance sought specifically to mobilize younger, highly educated Ukrainians of democratic persuasion who were not involved in established Ukrainian political parties.
