Velyki Sorochyntsi [Великі Сорочинці; Velyki Soročynci]. Map: III-14. A village (2010 pop 3,533) on the Psol River in Myrhorod raion, Poltava oblast. It was first mentioned in historical documents in the 1720s. The village boasts the baroque Transfiguration Church (built in 1732), with a wooden iconostasis, and a literary memorial museum dedicated to Nikolai Gogol, who was born in Velyki Sorochyntsi.
