Basarab, Matei, ?–April 1654. Wallachian hospodar (1632–54) who with György II Rákóczi of Transylvania defeated the Cossack-Moldavian forces led by Tymish Khmelnytsky and Vasile Lupu, the Moldavian hospodar, in Finta in 1653.
