Lviv Brigade of the Ukrainian Galician Army

Lviv Brigade of the Ukrainian Galician Army ( Lvivska [7] brygada UHA). Formed in January 1919 from units of the Southern Group, the brigade consisted of two infantry regiments and an artillery regiment and was part of the Third Corps of the Ukrainian Galician Army. Its commanders were Col Kostiantyn Sliusarchuk and Maj Alfred Bizanz. In June 1919 the Lviv Brigade spearheaded the Chortkiv offensive against the Polish army. Later it fought successfully in Volhynia and Podilia against the Red Army and Anton Denikin’s forces. In February 1920 the brigade was reorganized into the Seventh Infantry Regiment of the First Brigade of the Red Ukrainian Galician Army and was sent into action against the Poles. At the end of April 1920 it left the Red Army and was encircled by the Poles. Some of its units surrendered immediately; others broke out of the encirclement but surrendered two weeks later.
