Zamoyski, Tomasz

Zamoyski, Tomasz, b 1 April 1594 in Zamość, d 7 January 1638. Polish nobleman of the Zamoyski family; son of Jan Zamoyski. A graduate of the Zamostia Academy, he was a voivode of Podilia (1618) (see Podilia voivodeship) and Kyiv (1618–29) (see Kyiv voivodeship), crown vice-chancellor (1629–35), and crown chancellor (from 1635). In his official capacities he concluded a treaty with the Cossacks in 1619 and conducted negotiations with them in 1625. He supported the promotion of the Ukrainian statesman Adam Kysil.
