Andriiashev, Oleksander

Andriiashev, Oleksander [Андріяшев, Олександер; Andrijašev], b 1 September 1863 in Chernihiv, d 8 February 1933 in Kyiv. Historian, archivist, archeographer. Andriiashev graduated from Kyiv University in 1886 and worked in the archives of Riga, Revel, Saint Petersburg, and Kyiv (especially in the Kyiv Central Archive of Old Documents). He wrote several works on the history of Volhynia and the Kyiv region, including Ocherk istorii Volynskoi zemli do kontsa XIV veka (A Historical Survey of the Volhynian Land to the End of the 14th Century, 1887) and ‘Narys istoriï kolonizatsiï Kyïvs'koï zemli do kintsia XV viku’ (A Historical Survey of the Colonization of the Kyiv Land to the End of the 15th Century) in Kyïv ta ioho okolytsia v istoriï i pam'iatkakh (Kyiv and Its Environs in History and in Monuments, ed Mykhailo Hrushevsky, Kyiv 1926).
