Bass viol

Bass viol (басоля; basolia). A Ukrainian stringed folk musical instrument of the bass register. In its form and dimensions it is similar to a violoncello. It has four strings tuned in fifths. The bass viol is used in folk instrumental ensembles, such as trios of folk musicians called troisti muzyky.
