Bodarevsky, Mykola

Bodarevsky, Mykola [Bodarevs'kyj], b 24 November 1850 in Odesa, d 1921. Painter. Bodarevsky graduated from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1873 and became an academician there in 1908. He worked mostly in Odesa, producing works on biblical themes, scenes of daily life in Ukraine and portraits. In the 1880s he took part in the exhibits of the Peredvizhniki and from 1900 was a member of the Society of South Russian Artists.
