Csopey, László

Csopey, László or Chopei, Vasyl [Чопей, Василь; Čopej, Vasyl'], b 1 October 1856 in Romochevytsia near Mukachevo, Transcarpathia, d 23 June 1934 in Budapeszt, Hungary. Ukrainian Transcarpathian educator who taught in Budapest. Csopey compiled textbooks for Transcarpathian schools, as well as Rusko-madiarskyi slovar (Ukrainian-Hungarian Dictionary, 1883), which included many local words. He also published a study on Hungarianisms in the Ukrainian language (Magyar szók a Rutén nyelvben [Magyar Words in the Ruthenian Language, 1881]).
