Harmashiv, Vsevolod

Harmashiv, Vsevolod [Гармашів, Всеволод; Harmašiv], b 1868 in Mykolaiv, Kherson gubernia, d 1953 in Munich. Surgeon. From 1897 to 1914 he served as senior physician on the staff of the Kyiv Military Hospital. During the war he served in the active Russian army, and then returned to the Kyiv hospital with the military rank of general of medical services. In 1922 Harmashiv immigrated to Czechoslovakia, where he was appointed professor of biology and hygiene at the Ukrainian Higher Pedagogical Institute in Prague. From 1930 to 1933 he was rector of the institute. He founded a number of clinical sanatoriums for emigrants in Czechoslovakia. In 1945 he moved to Germany.
