Holovetsky, Dionisii

Holovetsky, Dionisii [Головецький, Діонісій; Holovec'kyi, Dionisij], b 3 November 1885 in Staryi Sambir, Sambir county, Galicia, d 4 February 1961 in Glen Cove, New York State, United States. Priest of the Basilian monastic order, specialist in canon law. He served as rector of Saint Josaphat's Ukrainian Pontifical College in Rome (1926–32). He was a member of the Codification Commission for Eastern Canon Law and a consultator of the Sacred Congregation for Eastern Rite Catholic Churches. A collection of Ukrainian sources of eastern canon law, ‘Jus Particulare Ruthenorum,’ published in Codificazione Canonica Orientale. Fonti XI (1933), was compiled by Holovetsky. In 1946–53 he taught canon law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
