Holub

Holub. Cossack starshyna family line founded by Hryhorii at the beginning of the 17th century in the Chernihiv region. Its most important members were Zakhar, a notable military fellow (1667–90); Kost, a general standard-bearer (1678–87); and Hryhorii, a graduate of the Kyivan Mohyla Academy (1699) and fellow of the standard (from 1727) who later entered a monastery on Mount Athos and assumed the name of Hurii.
