Hrebinka

Hrebinka. Map: III-13. Town (2001 pop 11,662) and raion center in Poltava oblast, situated on the Orzhytsia River. It was founded in 1895 as a junction of the Kyiv-Kharkiv railway and is named after Yevhen Hrebinka. The troops of the Ukrainian National Republic Army and the Red Army fought each other there several times, particularly in January 1919.
