Kulyk, Ihor

Kulyk, Ihor [Кулик, Ігор; aka Kulik, Igor], b 19 November 1935 in Kharkiv, d 18 December 2019 in Brooklyn, New York State. Solid-state physicist; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR since 1970. A graduate of Kharkiv University (1959), from 1960 to 1972 Kulyk was a research associate at the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. From 1972 to 1992 he was a department head at the Institute. From 1992 to 2004 he worked as professor at the Department of Physics at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. He moved to the United States of America in 2004 and cooperated with Stoney Brook University. He achieved significant research results in the fields of superconductivity and surface physics.
