Kvitka

Kvitka [Квітка]. Name of a prominent Cossack starshyna family in Slobidska Ukraine. Semen was the captain of Kharkiv regiment (1672), then a regimental judge (see Regimental court). His son Hryhorii (ca 1670–1734) was also a colonel of Kharkiv regiment (1713). Ivan (d 1751), Hryhorii's son, was a colonel of Izium regiment in 1743 and the grandfather of Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko.
