Poliana [Poljana]. Map: V-3. A town smt (1986 pop 3,500) in Svaliava raion, Transcarpathia oblast. It is first mentioned in historical documents in the 12th century. Poliana is a balneological health resort with two sanatoriums that are open all year. The mineral waters provided by its four springs are used to treat chronic gastritis, ulcers, and liver and kidney ailments.
