Reshetar, John

Reshetar, John Stephen [Решетар; Rešetar], b 15 July 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, d 7 February 2015 in Port Reading, New Jersey. Political scientist. He graduated from Willams College (1945) and Harvard University (PhD, 1950) and taught at Princeton University (1947–55), Harvard University , and the University of Pennsylvania before becoming a professor at the University of Washington in Seattle (1957–89). A specialist in Ukrainian affairs and the history of the Soviet Union, he is the author of The Ukrainian Revolution, 1917–1920: A Study in Nationalism (1952, repr 1972), Problems of Analyzing and Predicting Soviet Behavior (1955), A Concise History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (2 eds, 1960, 1964), The Soviet Polity: Government and Politics in the U.S.S.R. (3 eds, 1971, 1978, 1989), and more than thirty scholarly articles.
