Shpylka, Bohdan

Shpylka, Bohdan [Шпилька, Богдан; Špyl'ka], b 8 March 1892 in Dmytrovychi, Mostyska county, Galicia, d 1 November 1965 in Ottawa. Archbishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of America in 1937–65. Originally from Galicia, he emigrated to the United States in 1936 to assume church duties. He wrote Orthodox catechisms in both Ukrainian and English and published a variety of propagandistic brochures.
