Stetsiuk, Kateryna

Stetsiuk, Kateryna [Стецюк, Катерина; Stecjuk], b 23 November 1905 in Shpytky, Kyiv county, d 4 July 2002 in Kyiv. Historian. A graduate of the Kyiv Institute of People's Education (1928), she worked at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (from 1938) and taught at the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute and the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (1938–53). She wrote Vplyv povstannia Stepana Razina na Ukraïnu (The Influence of S. Razin’s Uprising on Ukraine, 1947), Pereiaslavs'ke povstannia 1666 r. (The Pereiaslav Uprising of 1666, 1958), and Narodni rukhy na Livoberezhnii i Slobids'kii Ukraïni v 50–70-kh rokakh XVII st. (Popular Movements in Left-Bank Ukraine and Slobidska Ukraine in the 1650s to 1670s, 1960) and contributed to the collective works Istoriia Ukraïns'koï RSR (History of the Ukrainian SSR, 2 vols, 1967) and Istoriia selianstva Ukraïns'koï RSR (History of the Peasantry of the Ukrainian SSR, 2 vols, 1967).
