Strilbytsk oil field

Strilbytsk oil field [Стрільбицьке нафтове родовище; Strilbytske naftove rodovyshche]. An oil field located near Staryi Sambir, Lviv oblast, at the edge of the Drohobych-Boryslav Industrial Region. The field is approx 5.2 km long and 1.75 km wide. The oil, which dates from the Eocene and Paleocene epochs, is high in paraffin and resin. The field was discovered in 1860 and has been exploited since then. The oil is refined in Drohobych.
