Yampil (Sumy oblast)

Yampil (Sumy oblast) [Ямпіль; Jampil’]. Map: II-14. A town smt (2005 pop 7,200) on the Ivotka River and a raion center in Sumy oblast. It originated at the beginning of the 17th century and was called Klyn until 1674. From the mid-1680s to 1709 and from 1722 to 1781 it was a company town of Nizhyn regiment. An agricultural center, it has a dairy and a flax-processing factory.
