Zaiachkivsky, Yosyp Ivan

Zaiachkivsky, Yosyp Ivan [Заячківський, Йосип Іван; Zajačkivs'kyj, Josyp], b 14 June 1889 in Bilobozhnytsia, Chortkiv county, Galicia, d 20 March 1952 in Merano, Italy. Basilian priest. He was hegumen of the Basilian monasteries in Dobromyl (1920–7) and Drohobych (1927–30) and then secretary (1930–49) and general consultator (1949–52) of the Basilian monastic order in Rome. He also served as rector of Saint Josaphat's Ukrainian Pontifical College (1948–52) and as a member of the commission responsible for codifying Eastern-church rite canon law.
