Burundai [Burundaj], 13th century; dates unknown. Mongol-Tatar military leader who took part in the attacks on Kyivan Rus’ led by Batu Khan in the late 1230s and early 1240s. Burundai forced the Volhynian prince Vasylko Romanovych to join the Tatar campaigns against Lithuania (1258) and Poland (1259). On Burundai's orders all fortifications in Volhynia and Galicia (except for Kholm) were destroyed.
