Pechenihy [Pečenihy]. Map: IV-17. A town smt (2001 pop 6,093) on the Donets River and a raion center in Kharkiv oblast. In the mid-17th century the town was fortified, and became a company center in Izium regiment. In the 19th century it was part of Vovchansk county in Kharkiv gubernia. By 1896 its population had reached 6,600. Today it has a food-processing plant and a fishery. The Pechenihy Reservoir is located nearby.
