Povist’ o Akiri premudrom (The Tale of Akir the All-Wise). An Assyro-Babylonian didactic tale taken from The Thousand and One Nights and translated in Kyiv from Greek in the 11th century, during the reign of Grand Prince Yaroslav the Wise. Many of the expressions and proverbs found in it became part of Ukrainian oral folklore. A. Grigorev's monograph about the tale appeared in Moscow in 1913.
