Ukrainian National Council (Winnipeg) (Ukrainska narodna rada). A representative committee formed early in 1919 in Winnipeg by Ukrainian Catholics who broke away from the Ukrainian Canadian Citizens' League (UCCL). The council duplicated the efforts of the UCCL in fighting discrimination and promoting Ukrainian independence at the Paris Peace Conference. It collected funds for the Ukrainian Press Bureau in Paris and purchased supplies for Ukrainian prisoners of war in Italy. It also sought (unsuccessfully) to obtain government assistance to ship grain to Galicia. It was dissolved in the early 1920s.
