Byzantine Choir. A male choir that sings a cappella, organized in 1951 in Utrecht, Holland by Myroslaw Antonowycz, who served as its conductor until 1991 (he was succeeded by G. Sarolea). Although the choir members are Dutch, the choir’s repertoire includes Ukrainian church music, folk songs, and the works of Ukrainian composers, which are all sung in Ukrainian. The Byzantine Choir has toured Europe (including Ukraine in 1990), the United States, and Canada with its concerts. Since its inception it has produced more than ten recordings.
