Chyrsky, Mykola [Чирський, Микола; Čyrs'kyj], b 18 February 1902 in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Podilia gubernia, d 26 February 1942 in Kamianets-Podilskyi. Poet and dramatist. While serving in the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic, Chyrsky crossed the Zbruch River and was interned in an internment camp in Kalisz, Poland. From 1922 he lived as an émigré in Czechoslovakia, at first in Poděbrady and later in Prague and Uzhhorod. Chyrsky was a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, and his work reflected the weltanschauung of the journal Vistnyk. His only collection of poetry, Emal' (Enamel), appeared in Prague in 1941. He also wrote several dramas: Otaman Pisnia, P’ianyi reid (Drunken Raid), and Andrii Korybut.
