Harasevych, Oleksander

Harasevych, Oleksander [Гарасевич, Олександер; Harasevyč], 1876–1934. Galician agronomist and pedagogue. Before the First World War Harasevych worked as an organizer of dairy co-operatives, an agriculture instructor for the Prosvita society (1904–9), and a lecturer at а teachers' seminary in Lviv. He was one of the founders and, for a time president, of the Vidrodzhennia temperance society. In the 1920s he lived in Soviet Ukraine; he died in Kharkiv during the 1933–4 purges and terror.
