Sadovska-Barilotti, Mariia [Садовська, Марія; Sadovs’ka, Marija] (née Tobilevych), b April 1855 in Kamiano-Kostuvate, Yelysavethrad county, Kherson gubernia, d 27 March 1891 in Odesa. (Photo: Mariia Sadovska-Barilotti.) Stage actress and singer (soprano); sister of Ivan Karpenko-Kary, Mykola Sadovsky, and Panas Saksahansky. She began her theatrical career in 1876 in a touring Russian operetta troupe and then appeared in the troupes of Mykhailo Starytsky (1883–5), Marko Kropyvnytsky (1885–8), Starytsky again (1888–90), and in Saksahansky's Troupe (1890–1), in which she mostly played heroic leading-lady roles.
