World Anti-Communist League (WACL). An alliance of anticommunist organizations based in over 60 countries, founded in 1966 in Taipei, Taiwan. One of its founding members was the Ukrainian Liberation Front; the Ukrainian Youth Association (SUM) was a member from 1968. The other members include the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations (ABN), the Asian Pacific Anti-Communist League, the European Freedom Council, and the American Council for World Freedoms. Slava Stetsko was a permanent delegate of the ABN to WACL. In 1990, the organisation changed its name to World League for Freedom and Democracy. The league holds annual conferences. Its purpose has been to remind the democratic countries of the threat of communism and to struggle for the liberation of nations living under communist subjugation. Reports on the WACL were published in ABN Correspondence.
