Nosiv, Anatolii

Nosiv, Anatolii or Nosov [Носів (Носов), Анатолій], b 23 July 1883 in Poltava, d 1941? Anthropologist and archeologist. A student of Fedir Vovk, he became head of the anthropology and prehistory department of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology at the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (VUAN) in Kyiv and a member of the All-Ukrainian Archeological Committee. In the 1920s he published several articles in anthropology, coedited (with Mykhailo Rudynsky) the annual collection Antropolohiia (1927–30), and compiled Slovnyk antropoheohrafichoï terminolohiï (A Dictionary of Anthropogeographical Terminology, 1930). In the mid-1930s he was arrested by the NKVD and imprisoned, but was released and managed to find a position at the regional studies museum in Yalta. His subsequent fate is unknown.
