Babii, Ivan [Бабій, Іван; Babij], b 5 March 1893 in the village of Dobromirka, Zbarazh county, Galicia, d 25 July 1934 in Lviv. Classical philologist, educator, lieutenant in the Ukrainian Galician Army. In 1931 he became director of the Academic Gymnasium of Lviv. He was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Action, the director of its Archepiscopal Institute, and one of the main organizers of the Ukrainian Youth for Christ festival. Babii was assassinated by a student member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists for his strong antinationalist speeches to the gymnasium students.
