Damilovsky, Mykola [Даміловський, Микола; Damilovs'kyj], b 31 December 1880 in Kozatske, Chernihiv gubernia, d 21 March 1942 in Kyiv. Architect and pedagogue. Damilovsky graduated from the Institute of Civil Engineering in Saint Petersburg in 1909. He was a co-founder of and professor (and vice-rector) at the Kyiv Architecture Institute (1918–23) and the Kyiv State Art Institute (from 1923). He invented the Damilovsky rule, which simplifies the construction of architectural perspectives. He designed many buildings in Kyiv and pumping stations for the waterworks of Kryvyi Rih and Bila Tserkva. His work is in the modern Ukrainian style of architecture.
