Dombrovsky, Avhustyn

Dombrovsky, Avhustyn [Домбровський, Августин; Dombrovs'kyj], b 9 September 1880 in Smorzhiv, Radekhiv county, Galicia, d 24 May 1970 in Rudne, Lviv raion, Lviv oblast. Elementary school teacher in Galicia. During the period of the Western Ukrainian National Republic, Dombrovsky was a deputy to the Ukrainian National Rada. Dombrovsky wrote Ukraïns'kyi bukvar (Ukrainian Primer) and Bukvar dlia nepys'mennykh (Primer for Illiterates), as well as articles on pedagogy. In 1929–30 he edited Uchytel’s’ke slovo in Lviv. In 1945–56 he worked as a school principal in the village of Vikniany, Tovmach raion, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast.
