Dumka

Dumka. Nineteenth-century term for lyrical, often sentimental, Slavic songs or instrumental (especially piano) works patterned on the melodies of folk songs. Piano works of this type include ‘Dumka’ by Denys Bonkovsky, ‘Dumky’ and ‘Dumka z Ukraïny’ by Mykhailo Zavadsky, and ‘Dumka i kolomyika’ by Sydir Vorobkevych.
