Hrabec, Stefan

Hrabec, Stefan, b 14 January 1912 in Stanyslaviv, Galicia, d 25 December 1972 in Łódź, Poland. Polish linguist, professor at Toruń University, and from 1954, at Łódź University. His contributions included studies of the influences of the Ukrainian language on the Polish language and of the toponymy of the Hutsul region. He was coauthor of Dzieje języka ukraińskiego w zarysie (A Historical Survey of the Ukrainian Language, 1956) and, together with Przemysław Zwoliński, compiled a Ukrainian-Polish dictionary (1957).
