Ivasiuk, Ivan

Ivasiuk, Ivan [Івасюк, Іван; Ivasjuk], b 1879 in Khotyn county, Bessarabia, d 31 October 1933 in Prague. Teacher, co-operative organizer, and civic and political figure in the Kuban. He was a teacher in the Katerynoslav region and the Kuban. For eight years before the Revolution of 1917 he was the director of the Tsentrosoiuz co-operative bank in Katerynodar. In 1920 he became finance minister in Vasyl Ivanys’s government of the Kuban People's Republic. He emigrated that year to Czechoslovakia, and from 1923 he lectured at the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady. His published works include studies on banking and co-operatives, a textbook on co-operative accounting, the book Kredytova kooperatsiia na Ukraïni (Credit Co-operatives in Ukraine, 1933), and the economic survey Kuban' (1925).
