Juliette

Juliette (stage name of Julia Sysak-Cavazzi), b 26 August 1927 in Saint Vital, Manitoba, d 26 October 2017 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canadian singer and entertainer of Ukrainian origin. She began to sing professionally at 13 and made her debut on CBC radio at 15. In 1954 she began to appear regularly on CBC-TV as ‘Our Pet, Juliette.’ Her program ‘Juliette’ (1956–66) was one of Canada’s most popular TV shows. Later she did TV specials and hosted two CBC-TV talk shows, ‘After Noon’ (1969–71) and ‘Juliette and Friends’ (1973–5). She recorded for RCA Camden. In 1975 she was appointed to the Order of Canada.
